Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. program in
Chemical and Molecular Biology
Admission through JAM
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IITKGP) in collaboration with Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) offers an joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. Program in "Chemical and Molecular Biology".
History of the program: This program started from academic year 2016-2017. Degrees will be awarded by IIT Kharagpur. The program aims to bring two premier institutes in teaching and research together to offer courses in the interface of Biology and Chemistry. Students will participate on the course work in both the institutes. The students obtaining CGPA greater than the stipulated one will be directly admitted to the Ph.D. program after completion of M.Sc.
Fellowship: Admitted students will be entitled to a stipend of Rs. 12,000/- p.m. (fixed) for the first two years. Students obtaining a CGPA above a certain stipulated level may be considered for admission into Ph.D. program and will be eligible for PhD fellowship at regular JRF/SRF rate.
Important announcement:
Starting from 2021, the admission to the joint MSc-PhD program "Chemical and Molecular Biology" will be based on JAM scores in Biotechnology (BT) and Chemistry (CY) papers. Students qualifying Biotechnology (BT) and Chemistry (CY) test papers in JAM can apply to this course. JAM application portal link is: https://jam.iisc.ac.in/
